DENVER - Foreclosure filings for the third quarter rose by 60 percent in Larimer County and 62 percent in Weld County compared to the same quarter last year, according to a report from the Colorado Division of Housing.

The report released Thursday said there were 555 foreclosure filings in Larimer County in the third quarter compared to 346 in the same quarter in 2008. There were 905 filings in Weld County compared to 560 in 2008.

Third-quarter foreclosure sales fell 7 percent in Larimer County - from 242 to 225 - while rising 5 percent in Weld County - from 436 to 459 - compared to one year ago.

Statewide, there were 12,468 foreclosure filings in the third quarter of 2009 compared to 7,285 in 2008. There were 5,618 foreclosure sales during the quarter compared to 6,461 sales one year earlier.

Through September, there have been 35,112 foreclosure filings in 2009 and 14,971 sales in Colorado, the housing division reported.
