GREELEY - JBS USA has purchased a 104,000-square-foot building in
downtown at one time occupied by Con-Agra Inc. The meatpacking company,
which has its headquarters in The Promontory in west Greeley, closed on
the $2.3 million deal in late January.
The facility at 2401 Second Ave. had been vacant since 2007 when
Structural Components Systems, a roof and floor truss manufacturer,
left. Con-Agra had moved out in 1999.
The industry giant is also expanding on other fronts. According to
Meatingplace.com, JBS S.A., the Brazilian parent company of JBS USA,
earlier this week opened a hamburger patty plant in Moscow to supply
McDonald's restaurants throughout Russia - about 140 restaurants in 37
cities.
