FREDERICK - UQM Technologies Inc. (AMEX: UQM) will be added to the
Nasdaq Clean Edge Green Energy Index effective at the opening bell on
March 22.
The index tracks the performance of publicly traded clean energy
companies, including those engaged in the manufacture, development,
distribution and installation of emerging clean energy technologies such
as solar photovoltaics, biofuels and advanced batteries.
Frederick-based UQM develops and manufactures power-dense,
high-efficiency electric motors, generators and power electronic
controllers for the automotive, aerospace, military and industrial
markets.
In January, UQM received a $45.1 million grant from the U.S. Department
of Energy. The grant was part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act to help companies involved in the manufacture of electric vehicles,
batteries and components buy new facilities and equipment.
In afternoon trading, UQM shares were down slightly at $4.30.
