FORT COLLINS - Sierra Trading Post, an outdoor retailer based in Cheyenne, Wyo., said Monday the company is opening a satellite office in Fort Collins.

A group of at least 10 employees will split their time between the new office, called the Fort Collins Technology Campus, and company headquarters in Cheyenne, spokeswoman Steph Merkle said. About 10 additional employees will work in Fort Collins.
Employees in the Fort Collins office will focus on developing technology such as online applications as well as performing website updates and information technology tasks.

"We just found that a lot of our staff was coming from Fort Collins anyway," Merkle said. "We've been really focused on technology in the last couple years, just really expanding that area. Fort Collins is a great market for that."

Founded in 1986, Sierra Trading Post buys overstocks, closeouts and seconds from more than 2,000 brand names. The company sells its products online and at four outlet stores in Cheyenne and Cody, Wyo.; Boise, Idaho; and Reno, Nev.
"Our company has grown from a small catalog retailer to an online powerhouse because we invest in technology solutions," said Gary Imig, president of Sierra Trading Post. "We continue to hire the best talent in the industry - in Wyoming and now in Colorado - to create ways for customers to shop our site and interact with us however they choose and wherever they are."
The 4,700-square-foot office at 2002 Caribou Drive has room for future company growth, including additional employees.
