Personal income in Colorado grew 4.9 percent in 2011
As of the fourth quarter of last year, personal income in Colorado was $229 billion, which is also 4.9 percent higher than in the same period the year before.
Although the figures are highers, they also represent the lowest year-over-year increase since the second quarter of 2010, when personal income grew 3.2 percent statewide.
Coloradans' personal income is slightly above peak levels for the U.S.
The national personal income level was 4.6 percent above its peak in the fourth quarter. U.S. personal income peaked in the second quarter 2008.
Personal income in Colorado has increased 44.5 percent over the last 10 years. Personal income figures are not adjusted for inflation. Over the past decade, the consumer price index in the U.S. West region increased 23 percent, meaning that income growth outpaced inflation, but real income growth is about half of the nominal income growth.
