Fires drive up June hotel occupancies
Fort Collins came in second with an occupancy rate of 81.8 percent for the month.
Greeley had an 81.2 percent occupancy rate for the month, while Estes Park's occupancy rate was 75.3 percent, the report said.
Greeley had the lowest average daily room rate in Northern Colorado at $77.67. Estes Park's ADR was $121.04, followed by Loveland at $120.41 and Fort Collins at $80.87.
June is always a busier month for Northern Colorado hotels, but this June, occupancy rates were driven even higher because of the High Park and Woodland Heights fires. Evacuees and firefighters filled rooms throughout Northern Colorado, especially in Fort Collins, Loveland and Estes Park.
Some hotels offered discounted rates to evacuees.
Year-to-date, Greeley has had a 72.6 percent occupancy compared to 67.6 percent for Loveland, 61.5 percent for Fort Collins and 41.8 percent for Estes Park.
Statewide, the June occupancy rate was 75.9 percent with an average daily rate of $121.42.
