No one succeeds completely on his or her own without any outside help. No one. We all need assistance and guidance in order to continually grow our careers. Imagine what you could accomplish if you had a support team in place. Imagine. Here are the folks you need on your side:
#1 – Cheerleader – This is the person who will cheer you own when the going gets tough. Gotta have a cheerleader. Pom-poms are optional.
#2 – Mentor – The ideal mentor has mastered the goals you aspire to achieve and is willing to guide you in your journey.
#3 – Passionate affiliation – This is a well-networked person in your target industry who believes in you enough to generously share personal contacts and leads.
#4 – Devil’s advocate – This is not a naysayer who doubts your ability to succeed. This is simply someone willing to ask the tough questions and force you to think though all aspects of your career plan.
#5 – Project Planner – This is someone who will help you lay out a plan of action and who will hold you accountable to the steps along the way.
No one makes it alone. And there is no shame in that. No shame at all.
