Know when to fold ‘em
Sometimes we are just not emotionally ready to call it quits. What would we do every day? Not everyone has hobbies or a desire to travel. Some folks really just enjoy getting up and going to work. Go figure.
Look objectively at the value you provide and determine how much longer you will be an asset to the organization.
Hint: This has nothing to do with the amount of money in your 401(k).
Be honest and proactive. Don’t let your employer make this decision for you. That never feels good. It is always better to play your own hand.
