Allegiant reports another profitable quarter
Allegiant Airlines' parent company saw its income go from $11.9 million in the second quarter of 2011 to $25.2 million in this year's second quarter.
Total operating revenue increased 15.3 percent to $231.1 million from $200.4 million in the like quarter of 2011.
Average fares for scheduled services decreased year-over-year in the second quarter, from $91.17 in 2011 to $89.43. On the flip side, the company saw a 15.1 percent increase in passengers year-over-year in the second quarter, from 1.5 million to 1.7 million.
The resulting diluted earnings per share were $1.30 for the second quarter, up from 62 cents in the same quarter the previous year.
