Next phase of Mason Street construction under way
Concrete Express Inc., the city's general contractor for the MAX Bus Rapid transit, will begin installing curb and gutter around the track. Simultaneously, city traffic crews will install traffic signal cross arms and traffic signs.
The street will also be marked for two-way operation. During this phase, businesses are open, but patrons may need to access them from alternate locations. Intersection closures may persist while storm drainage pipeline is installed. This work is expected to last over the next month.
Curbs and gutters will first be installed on the east side of Mason Street between Maple Street and Old Main Drive on the CSU campus. Then, curb and gutter installation will take place on the west side of Mason Street.
Northbound sections of Mason Street are expected to reopen in mid-August, and the new southbound lane will reopen in early September.
