Platte River Power Authority has named Jacqueline Sargent, former senior vice president of the municipal utility in Austin, Texas, as the utility's new general manager.

Sargent, most recently the senior vice president of Power Supply and Market Operations for Austin Energy, has more than 24 years of experience in the energy industry. Her experience ranges from electric and gas utility operations to renewable energy development.

"Jackie's extensive experience will strongly complement the talent that already exists within Platte River's management team and staff," said Estes Park Mayor Bill Pinkham, chairman of Platte River's general manager search committee.

Sargent replaces retiring General Manager Brian Moeck on Aug. 27.

The nonprofit Platte River Power Authority generates electricity for Fort Collins, Loveland, Longmont and Estes Park customers.
