Colorado State University Provost Rick Miranda named Steve Abt, emeritus professor of civil and environmental engineering, as interim dean of the College of Engineering effective Aug. 1. Abt replaced Sandy Woods, who resigned to take a position at Oregon State University. Abt last served as interim dean of the college in 2004. He came out of retirement in July 2011 to serve as a temporary senior facilities advisor and has more than 39 years of general engineering experience.


BOARDS

United Way of Larimer County announced a new executive committee and new members to its board of directors for the 2012-2013 fiscal year. Effective in July, Nick Christensen of Larimer County Sheriff's Office is board chair; Karen Siwek of Brown & Brown Insurance is board treasurer; and Brent Coan of Otis, Coan & Peters LLC is board secretary. In addition, Mike Hooker of Colorado State University and Kay Garcia of First National Bank have joined the board.

The Women's Resource Center named Dr. Guadalupe Salazar as president of the board of directors. Salazar is the current director of El Centro at Colorado State University. She was one of two recipients to be
