FORT COLLINS - New Belgium Brewing Co. has been named fifth on Outside magazine's annual list of 100 Best Places to Work.

New Belgium offers a variety of on-site amenities to employees including yoga, a volleyball court and a climbing wall. After one year of employment, all employees receive a New Belgium cruiser bicycle, and after five years, employees receive an all expenses-paid trip to Belgium to learn more about beer culture.

"Through employee ownership and open book management, we have a highly engaged workforce working at top form," said New Belgium spokesman Bryan Simpson.

Outside's Best Places to Work project recognizes companies that are helping set "a new standard" for a health work-life balance. The list was compiled with the help of the Outdoor Industry Association and Best Companies Group.

The selection process is yearlong and begins with an outreach effort that identified a range of nonprofit and for-profit organizations with at least 15 employees in the U.S.

Participating companies were sent confidential questionnaires to collect information about benefits, compensation, policies, job satisfaction, environmental initiatives and community outreach programs.
