A former Cache Bank & Trust trust officer was officially banned from banking under an order issued Friday by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

Bradley "Brad" Budner pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft from Greeley-based Cache Bank & Trust earlier this year. He was sentenced to six years in prison for embezzling more than a quarter-of-a-million dollars while he worked at Cache Bank.

The FDIC issued an "order of prohibition from further participation," essentially making formal Budner's ban from the industry, citing "unsafe or unsound banking practices and/or breaches of fiduciary duty."

Cache Bank President and CEO Byron Bateman had no comment on the matter.
