John Matsushima, a retired CSU professor and a pioneer in beef-cattle nutrition, was honored Jan. 14 as 2013 Citizen of the West by the National Western Stock Show. During his 30-year career as a professor and researcher in the Department of Animal Sciences, Matsushima became a world-renowned expert whose innovations, beginning in the 1960s, helped modernize and expand U.S. beef production.
