FORT COLLINS - Prospect Road will be fully closed on either side of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks between College and Centre avenues for six weeks beginning March 4.

Construction related to the MAX Bus Rapid Transit system will be taking place during that time, according to a release from the city.

Nearly every aspect of the city's infrastructure needs to be relocated along the MAX route, including new water lines, sewer pipes and electric conduits.

Business access on Prospect will be maintained throughout the construction. Detours have been planned using Mulberry Street, Drake Road and Laurel Street.

In the area in question, according to the city, Prospect Road is very narrow, making it impossible to safely close just portions of the street at a time.

Crews will work seven days a week, 12 hours per day to finish the work as quickly as possible, according to the release.
