Weld County said Tuesday that Noble Energy Inc. and Anadarko Petroleum Corp., two of the largest oil and natural-gas companies in the region, will pay the county $148 million in 2012 property taxes.

The payment represents one third of all taxes, or $454 million, that will be paid to the county. Property tax revenue is up $71 million from the $383 million collected last year.

Anadarko and Noble Energy will present checks to county officials at Aims Community College in Fort Lupton next Tuesday.

The money is distributed to about 300 authorities, including junior colleges such as Aims Community College, school districts, fire districts, cities and others.
