Local staffing company expands to Boulder
FORT COLLINS - Ginny Teel, owner of 10 til 2 - The Part-Time Placement
Service of Northern Colorado, has announced that she is expanding her
business by acquiring the already successful Boulder territory.
In the past four months the staffing industry has experienced an
employment boom, according to Teel, prompting her to make the move.
"It is the perfect time for my business to expand to Boulder," Teel said
in announcing the expansion. "Numbers are up and I am excited to
continue to provide Boulder companies with the professional part-time

Abound Solar panels headed for test project in California
LOVELAND - Abound Solar panels will be installed in a commercial-scale photovoltaic test project.
Abound's AB1 modules will account for one of the largest components of the Chevron Technology Ventures' Project Brightfield. The project is a ground-mounted installation at a former refinery in Bakersfield, Calif. The site will act as a test facility to compare the performance of multiple emerging solar products.
In all, the site has a nameplate capacity of 190 kilowatts. The energy generated will be used to offset electrical needs at nearby Chevron facilities.
"Abound Solar is proud to be involved in Chevron's Project Brightfield and eager to compare the performance of our thin-film modules against any other leading technology on the market," said Tom Tiller, CEO of Abound, in a prepared statement.
Project Brightfield will also incorporate thin-film technologies from MiaSole, Schuco, Solar Frontier, Sharp and Solibro. Innovalight will provide crystalline-silicon photovoltaic panels at the site. |

Green Summit features new Beyond the Limits Award

CSU's Farland serving on national committees
FORT COLLINS - Colorado State University's vice president for research
has been tapped to served on a couple of committees at the National
Academies of Science.
Bill Farland will serve as chair of the National Research Council
committee on Emerging Science for Environmental Health Decisions. The
committee will look at developments in toxicology, molecular biology,
bioinformatics and other fields for application toward identification
and control of environmental impacts on human health.
Additionally, Farland was named to the National Research Council's Board
on Environmental Studies and Toxicology. The committee will report on
whether certain materials are more hazardous in nano form. Examples
range from metal oxides used in sunscreens to materials produced during
manufacturing processes. |

Estes Park rooms mostly empty in February
Estes Park hotels and lodges saw the lowest occupancy percentage in
Colorado for February, according to the most recent Rocky Mountain
Lodging Report.
In February, accommodations in Estes Park reported a 20.1 percent
occupancy percentage - down from 24 percent in February 2009. The
average room rate increased almost $10 in the past year to almost $120.
Fort Collins lodging facilities reported a February occupancy percentage
of 41 percent - up a half of one percentage point compared to last
year. The average room rate was down to just over $76 from more than $85
last year. Loveland, which was added to the Rocky Mountain Lodging
Report last summer, had an occupancy percentage of 49.3 percent with an
average room rate of $87.76.
Throughout the state, occupancies were up slightly - from 52.9 percent
in 2009 to 54.8 percent this February. The highest occupancies and room
rates were seen in the ski resort towns. Vail led the pack in occupancy
at 76.8 percent while Aspen garnered the highest average room rate at
$404.61. |
