Aims selects new Fort Lupton campus dean
FORT LUPTON - Aims Community College has selected Heather Lelchook as the new interim associate dean of its Fort Lupton campus.

Lelchook, who has served as the director of the Aims Downtown Center since its opening in 2006, replaces former Fort Lupton dean Karen Sell, who is retiring from that position after four years.

Lelchook earned both her bachelor's degree in human development and family studies and her master's degree in teaching English as a second language from Colorado State University.

"Heather has provided solid leadership at our Downtown Greeley Center and the campus has flourished, so we expect she will be equally successful in Fort Lupton," said Aims President Marsi Liddell.
Colorado continues upward on foreclosure list
IRVINE, Calif. - Colorado placed No. 8 on RealtyTrac's list of states with the highest rates of foreclosure activity in May, continuing an upward path seen since January.

Colorado was No. 9 in the nation in April, No. 10 in March and No. 11 in February and January.

The May report from the Irvine-based company that specializes in listing foreclosed properties said the number of properties in some form of foreclosure across the nation exceeded 300,000 for the third straight month. The May number was down by 6 percent from April but about 18 percent higher than May 2008.

"May foreclosure activity was the third highest month on record, and marked the third straight month where the total number of properties with foreclosure filings exceeded 300,000 -- a first in the history of our report," said James Sacaccio, RealtyTrac's CEO.

Topping the list in May were: Nevada, California, Florida, Arizona, Utah, Michigan, Georgia, Colorado, Idaho and Ohio.
Fort Collins best place for young professionals
FORT COLLINS - Next Generation Consulting has selected Fort Collins as the best place to live for young professionals among cities with populations of 100,000 to 200,000.

NGC said it used 45 measures to develop lists of cities in three population categories for its "Next Cities" lists of best places for people between the ages of 20 and 40 to live and work. The criteria included employment, education and social opportunities.

"The Next Generation is very savvy about choosing where they'll live," said Rebecca Ryan, NGC's founder. "They look carefully at quality-of-life factors like how much time they're going to spend in traffic commuting, if they can live near a park or hike-and-bike trail and whether a city's downtown stays awake after 5:00."

Denver placed No. 5 on NGC's list of cities with populations over 500,000. NGC has been ranking cities since 1998.
